Born in 1989 in Fulham, London, Daniel Radcliffe discovered his love of acting after performing in small productions at his private school. He scored his first major role in 1999 in a British television production of David Copperfield.
When it was finally announced that the phenomenally popular Harry Potter books were to be made into movies, Radcliffe jumped at the chance to star in what was sure to be a series of blockbusters. Daniel had a poor audition for the part. However, Daniel's father was friends with the casting agent and, before you could say 'magic', Daniel had scored the role. The rest, as they say, is history.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone premiered in 2001 to worldwide success. Radcliffe was an immediate star, and saw his stock rise after movies like 2002's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and 2006's December Boys. A fifth HP film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is slated for a mid-2007 release.
Radcliffe's personal fortune has now exceeded £23 million making him one of the richest teenagers in the United Kingdom.
